Gamesa will install 15MW of its G128-5.0MW turbine in a wind farm in Finland

Gamesa continues to forge ahead with its sales and product strategy, winning its first contract to supply Gamesa G128-5.0MW turbines, an evolution of the G128-4.5MW WTG.
Under the agreement, Gamesa will supply three units (15MW) of the G128-5.0MW turbine model to TuuliWatti Oy, a wind energy joint venture between Finnish energy company St1 Oy and the national retail cooperative S-Group. In addition, Gamesa will perform operation and maintenance (O&M) services for 10 years.
Specifically, Gamesa will install the turbines at a wind farm being developed by TuuliWatti in Salo, in southern Finland. The wind turbines are scheduled for delivery over the course of 2014, while the facility is slated for commissioning towards the end of next year.
This contract is part of a framework agreement signed by the two parties at the end 2012 for the supply of 135MW in Finland. As part of this contract, Gamesa supplied 18MW of its 4.5MW platform to the Simo wind farm (under commissioning), and will also supply 54MW to the Pori wind farm and 36MW to the Tornio facility between this year and next. These WTGs, all of which specifically designed to withstand low temperatures, will be the biggest and most powerful installed to date in the Finnish market.
